What are WAP Sites?

The WAP specification is developed and supported by the wireless telecommunication community so that the entire industry and most importantly, its subscribers, can benefit from a single, open specification”

Simply WAP is WEB on mobile!!!

I Used to work for Value Added Services company, where i was responsible for developing various content delivery portals. Most of these sites were on net sites (i.e. only subscribers for the network itself can view their portal). Below are some of the sites i have stumbled upon through out the past 2 years.

WAP Portals were originally written in WML notation, you can think of it as HTML for mobile. XHTML which is close to html is now also used in WAP portals. Mobile portals also include .Mobi portals, which are part of a different domain space than the .com portals, in which most of WAP portals are created. .Mobi domain name space is invented for mobile phones. All .Mobi portals are fitted to be used on a small screen, which adjusts itself to the phone’s screen.
